Summer Human Rights Volunteer Opportunities in Palestine 2026 will be available starting in 2026. This program is designed to introduce you to Palestinian human rights in a setting that will help you grow both personally and professionally. Participants in this summer program will aim to increase awareness of the situation on the West Bank and amplify the voices of Palestinian communities. Providing local Palestinian communities with a voice. Interns will be at the forefront of developing relationships between foreign tourists and locals. You will interact with NGOs, staff members, law professors, Palestinian students, and human rights activists, and go on excursions to refugee camps and human rights organizations. The program also includes lessons to help you begin or develop your Arabic language skills.

The Summer Human Rights Program 2026 in Palestine will run from June 15th to July 6th, 2026.

Where?

His Summer Human Rights Program 2026 will be held in Hebron, a city in the West Bank of Palestine, approximately 30 km south of Jerusalem. It is organised and hosted by the program. The program will be held at Engage in Palestine’s facilities, located at Ein Sarah Street, Street Number 427, in building 7.

Study What Is Included In The Summer Program?

Suppose you’re looking for volunteer opportunities in the Middle East over the summer and have an interest in Israeli-Palestinian relations. In that case, you will find this internship an ideal opportunity to gain relevant experience while learning or improving your Arabic language skills at the same time. 

The summer human rights internship in Palestine program is an excellent choice for individuals passionate about human rights who want to ensure Palestinians have access to their fundamental rights. Attending this program will provide you with valuable experience if you are interested in working for non-profit organizations in humanitarian or legal roles.

Over the three weeks of the program, you will also have the opportunity to study and practice 9 hours of Ammiya (Palestinian Arabic), with instruction from qualified and experienced Palestinian teachers. The program also allows you to research and practice Ammiya (Palestinian Arabic). During the three weeks of the program, while you stay at the Center, you are eligible for 9 hours of Arabic instruction from qualified, experienced Palestinian teachers.

You will interact with NGOs, staff members, professors of law, Palestinian students, and human rights activists, as well as go on excursions to refugee camps and human rights organizations to advance your academic work and develop your conversational and classroom Arabic skills.

Which Summer Human Rights Volunteer Opportunities in Palestine are Available?

Here is a brief overview of the Human Rights Programs that are available in Palestine in 2026 and 2027.

1. Volunteer with Palestinian Refugees

Volunteer with Palestinian Refugees: This program caters to undergraduate and graduate students, professionals, employees of human rights organizations, retirees, and anyone interested in engaging with the work concerning Palestinian refugees in the West Bank, Palestine. Getting involved in refugee assistance presents an excellent opportunity for university students and recent graduates seeking to gain experience in the human rights field.

Through this project in the West Bank, volunteers will have the opportunity to work with Palestinian children, women, and youths to enhance each other’s skills, create mutual understanding, engage in language exchange, and make a difference in each other’s lives.

The Volunteer with Palestinian Refugees in the West Bank program is open to individuals between the ages of 18 and 70. People from all countries and majors are welcome to join this program. There are no specific degree requirements. All that is required is a willingness to participate and help. 

2. The Palestinian Women’s Rights Program

The Palestinian Women’s Rights Program in the West Bank is a volunteer initiative that allows international visitors to visit Palestine and gain exclusive insight into women’s rights in the West Bank. Located in the vibrant city of Hebron, the project provides participants with many opportunities to meet Palestinian women, visit women’s rights organizations, and engage in educational and cultural activities.

Aimed at educating international participants about the current power dynamics of women in Palestinian society, you will get involved with volunteering with Palestinian women by promoting their rights and empowering them in all spheres of life, including the family, the workplace, and politics, all whilst ensuring they are safe from violence, exploitation, and discrimination.

Altogether, this volunteer program will enable you to gain awareness about gender equality in Hebron (one of the most conservative cities in Palestine) whilst also allowing you to study and practice Arabic, meet other internationals, and experience Palestinian daily life. 

Palestinian Law and Legal Systems Internship: This legal internship program is ideal for students of law, the social sciences, and human rights, as well as for anyone interested in the Palestinian legal system as it operates in the West Bank. As an intern, you can enroll for a period of from 1 to 13 weeks, year-round (spring, summer, fall, and winter). The Palestinian Law program aims to provide a full understanding of legislation applying to the West Bank and Gaza.

During the legal internship program, you will visit local Palestinian lawyers, law faculties, courts, human rights organizations, legal and religious institutions, as well as legal clinics in the city of Hebron, Palestine. You will witness the enactment of laws, the decision-making process, court rulings, legal negotiations, and mediations in various social settings.

4. Human Rights Internship in Palestine

Human Rights in Palestine Internship Program: Engage in Palestine in Hebron offers human rights volunteer opportunities that highlight Palestinian rights and promote personal and professional growth. Students gain experience in international law, diplomacy, and humanitarian aid while enhancing their intercultural and Arabic language skills. Participants will raise awareness about human rights in the West Bank and support local communities through education.

Engage in Palestine offers human rights internships and volunteer programs year-round for 1 to 13 weeks, with flexible start and end dates. Participants can learn Ammiya (Palestinian Arabic) and receive three hours of Arabic instruction weekly from qualified teachers. You’ll engage with Palestinian and international NGOs, professors, students, and human rights activists and participate in excursions to refugee camps and organizations, enhancing your academic work and Arabic skills.

5. Volunteer in Local Palestinian Villages

Volunteer in Local Palestinian Villages: This program offers an excellent opportunity for individuals of all ages, from students to retirees, to work directly with Palestinian communities in villages and rural areas of the West Bank, including Dura and the Hebron Hills, such as Masafer Yatta, Susya, Umm Al-Khayr, the Al-Fawwar refugee camp, and Bani Na’im. Volunteers will collaborate with Palestinian children, youth, women, and refugees to enhance their skills and participate in educational and recreational activities.

Volunteers will also learn Arabic to communicate with the locals and visit sites of Palestinian cultural and historical significance in and around Hebron city. This program is an excellent opportunity to deepen their understanding of daily life in Palestinian communities, security challenges, and resilience under occupation.

Program Details

The summer Human Rights Internship in Palestine is primarily knowledge-based, with an emphasis on increasing participants’ understanding of Palestinian human rights and legal breaches, while also raising awareness of these concerns.

During the internship, you will collaborate with international organizations, local activists, and international law specialists for the benefit of the Palestinian people. 

Structure

The Human Rights Program is loosely structured into four areas: 

  1. Increase your understanding of Palestinian human rights and the political context. 
  2. Create a unique program in collaboration with local activists.
  3. Study Arabic and become acquainted with Palestinian culture and daily life. 
  4. Organize workshops for Palestinian youth, teach English to Palestinian children and refugees, and write articles.

Activities

Over the three weeks of the program, you will participate in a variety of activities: 

  • Visiting various human rights organizations, including the Temporary International Presence in Hebron, Human Rights Defenders, Youth Against the Settlements, and Christian Peacemaker Teams Palestine. 
  • Working cooperatively with organizations in Hebron and Ramallah to provide workshops to Palestinian students on the subject of human rights, allowing you to put what you have learned into practice. As part of these workshops, you will be encouraged to share what you have learned, your particular knowledge, and your personal experience.
  • Participating in a variety of training and mentorship programs in the subject of human rights.

The program will be tailored to your specific knowledge, interests, fields of expertise, and degree of experience. Because we are adaptable, you can design your own syllabus and schedule, allowing you to build a curriculum that suits your needs and interests autonomously.

What You Will Receive During Your Time In Palestine

Volunteers in the Human Rights Program are eligible for a variety of perks, including:

  • Arabic teachers who are well-qualified and attentive, each with an excellent educational background, are ready and willing to assist you.

Shared Apartment

Engage in Palestine offers accommodation in either a Palestinian host family home or our modern, cozy, and fully equipped shared apartment, just a 5-minute walk from the center.

The apartments are designed for comfort and convenience, offering a modern, inviting space for interns to relax and unwind. 

Palestinian Host Family (women only)

For those staying with a host family, the experience offers a deep immersion into Palestinian culture, with opportunities to engage in family activities, attend local cultural events, and interact with the welcoming community of Hebron. This option allows interns to enhance their Arabic skills while gaining a unique insight into Palestinian home life and traditions.

For cultural reasons, only women are allowed to participate in the home-stay option. 

Visits To Local Palestinian Organizations

Engage in Palestine will organize visits to various local organizations working in human rights, enabling you to decide which activities to develop and present as part of your workshops. As a result of your meetings with local organizations, you will gain a better understanding of the state of human rights in the West Bank.

The program begins with an overview of the Geneva Convention and international law surrounding human rights. You will then learn how these international accords are being violated in Palestine.

You will get the chance to visit the United Nations Headquarters in Hebron, as well as other significant institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). You will visit Hebron and its surrounding regions to conduct interviews with municipal authorities, community leaders, legislators, business owners, employees, teachers, and university students, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of how these violations occur.

Volunteers will be able to participate in a variety of human rights training and mentorship programs. The courses will be tailored to your specific knowledge, interests, fields of expertise, and degree of experience. Because we are adaptable, you can design your own syllabus and schedule, allowing you to build a curriculum that suits your needs and interests autonomously.

What Activities Can Be Organized When Volunteering?

There are several activities appropriate for all levels in the program that you may participate in during your stay, including:

  • Educating Palestinian school and university students about fundamental rights
  • Visiting UN buildings and Human Rights NGO Headquarters
  • Visiting Palestinian refugee camps in and around Hebron.
  • Writing human rights essays, with an emphasis on Palestine and Gaza
  • Studying International Human Rights laws
  • Creating a catalog of NGOs and describing and analyzing their impact on human rights violations across the world
