This Summer Human Rights Program 2025 in Palestine will run from June 15th to July 6th, 2025.

Where?

His Summer Human Rights Program 2025 will be held in Palestine in the city of Hebron, in the West Bank of Palestine, which is 30 km south of Jerusalem. It is organised and hosted by the program. The program will be organized in the facilities of Engage in Palestine in Ein Sarah Street, Street Number 427, in building number 7.

What Is Included In The Summer Program?

If you’re looking for volunteer opportunities in the Middle East over the summer and have an interest in Israeli-Palestinian relations, you will find this internship an ideal opportunity to gain relevant experience while learning or improving your Arabic language skills at the same time. 

The summer human rights internship in Palestine program is a great choice for anybody who is passionate about human rights and wants to guarantee that Palestinians have access to their fundamental rights. Over the three weeks of the program, you will also have the opportunity to study and practice 9 hours of Ammiya (Palestinian Arabic), with instruction from qualified and experienced Palestinian teachers. The program also allows you to study and practice Ammiya (Palestinian Arabic). During the three weeks of the program, while you stay at the Center, you are eligible for 9 hours of Arabic instruction from qualified, experienced Palestinian teachers. as a volunteer on the West Bank program.

You will interact with NGOs, staff members, professors of law, Palestinian students, and human rights activists as well as go on excursions to refugee camps and human rights organizations to advance your academic work and develop your conversational and classroom Arabic skills.

Program Details

The summer Human Rights Internship in Palestine is mostly knowledge-based, with an emphasis on increasing participant understanding of Palestinian human rights and legal breaches while also raising awareness of these concerns.

During the internship, you will collaborate with international organizations, local activists, and international law specialists for the benefit of the Palestinian people. 

Structure

The Human Rights Program is loosely structured into four areas: 

  1. Increase your understanding of Palestinian human rights and the political context. 
  2. Create a unique program in collaboration with local activists.
  3. Study Arabic and become acquainted with Palestinian culture and daily life. 
  4. Organize workshops for Palestinian youth, teach English to Palestinian children and refugees, and write articles.

Activities

Over the three weeks of the program, you will participate in a variety of activities: 

  • Visiting various human rights organizations such as the Temporary International Presence in Hebron, Human Rights Defenders, Youth Against the Settlements, and Christian Peacemaker Teams Palestine. 
  • Working cooperatively with organizations in Hebron and Ramallah to provide workshops to Palestinian students on the subject of human rights, giving you the opportunity to put what you have learned into practice. As part of these workshops, you will be encouraged to share what you have learned, your particular knowledge, and your personal experience.
  • Participating in a variety of training and mentorship programs in the subject of human rights.

Flexibility

The program will be tailored to your specific knowledge, interests, fields of expertise, and degree of experience. Because we are adaptable, you will be able to design your own syllabus and schedule, allowing you to build a curriculum to suit your needs and interests according to your curriculum autonomously.

What You Will Receive During Your Time In Palestine

Volunteers in the Human Rights Program are eligible for a variety of perks, including:

  • Three hours of weekly Arabic lessons;,
  • Visit Palestinian refugee camps and arrange activities for Palestinian children.
  • Work with nonprofits, non-profit organizations, humanitarian and /human rights law firms, NGOs, and other charitable organizations to gain expertise.

  • Arabic teachers who are well-qualified and attentive, each with a great educational background, are ready and willing to assist you.

Engage in Palestine provides two accommodation options.

Shared Apartment

Engage in Palestine offers accommodation in either a Palestinian host family home or our modern, cozy, and fully equipped shared apartment, just a 5-minute walk from the center.

The apartments are designed for comfort and convenience, providing a modern and inviting space for interns to relax and unwind. 

Palestinian Host Family (women only)

For those staying with a host family, the experience offers a deep immersion into Palestinian culture, with opportunities to engage in family activities, attend local cultural events, and interact with the welcoming community of Hebron. This option allows interns to enhance their Arabic skills while gaining a unique insight into Palestinian home life and traditions.

For cultural reasons, only women are allowed to participate in the home-stay option. 

Visits To Local Palestinian Organizations

Engage in Palestine will organize visits to various local organizations working in the field of human rights, enabling you to decide what activities to develop and present as part of your workshops. As a result of your meetings with local organizations, you will gain a better understanding of the state of human rightsright’s in the West Bank.

The program begins with an overview of the Geneva Convention and international law surrounding human rights. You will then learn how these international accords are being violated in Palestine.

You will get the chance to visit the United Nations Headquarters in Hebron, as well as other significant institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). You will go to Hebron and the surrounding regions to interview with municipal authorities, community leaders, legislators, business owners, employees, teachers, and university students to learn more about how these violations occur.

Volunteers will be able to participate in a variety of training and mentorship programs on the subject of human rights. The courses will be tailored to your specific knowledge, interests, fields of expertise, and degree of experience. Because we are adaptable, you will be able to design your own syllabus and schedule, allowing you to build a curriculum to suit your needs and interests autonomously.

There are several activities appropriate for all levels in the program that you may participate in during your stay, including:

  • Educating Palestinian school and university students about basic rights
  • Visiting UN buildings and Human Rights NGO Headquarters
  • Visiting Palestinian refugee camps in and around Hebron.
  • Writing human rights essays, with an emphasis on Palestine and Gaza

  • Creating a catalog of NGOs and describing and analyzing their impact on human rights violations across the world
